“So tired of this clown” – Eagles fans trash Chris Simms after outlandish take on Jalen Hurts’ MVP campaign

Bleacher Report
Fans are in disagreement over Chris Simms' take on Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has had one of the best seasons of any player in the NFL this year. Hurts finished the season as an MVP candidate, although he will likely lose that award to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Hurts finished the season 14-1 as the Eagles' starting quarterback, recording 35 total touchdowns and over 4,400 total yards. He led the Eagles to the Super Bowl as the number-one seed in the NFC.

Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Chris Simms discredited Hurts' fantastic season at media day on Wednesday. He claimed that playing quarterback for the Eagles right now is one of the easiest jobs in the sport:

"I understand the pocket-passing is there, right, but you have to worry about so many other things to play Philadelphia. Of course, Jalen Hurts is a part of that, and he capatilzes on all of that. Certainly I'm not trying to take any of that away from that.
"But, how would I put this? Playing quarterback for the Eagles right now is set up to be one of the easier QB jobs in the sport."

Many fans disagreed with Simms' take and let him know in the replies. Most people say that Simms can't admit he's wrong, although he has been wrong with his takes.

This isn't the first time Simms has discredited or downplayed Hurts' MVP season. While Hurts was the favorite to win the league MVP before Patrick Mahomes became the favorite towards the end of the season, Simms went on record to say that Hurts shouldn't win MVP and that if you put in backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, the team would still win games:

"Hurts will not be my MVP vote. It's an incredible system that that coach has never even ran before but they had to run it because they coulnd't run their system with Jalen Hurts. It's the best offensive line in football, the best defensive line in football. I mean if it's not for the 49ers, it's the best defense in football. It's the best rushing attack in football.
"There's just no way he's more valuable to his team than Mahomes, Burrow, or Allen... If you put Garnder Minshew in the Eagles, they'd still be pretty damn good."

As expected, many Philly fans have been lashing out at Simms for another baffling statement regarding Hurts. Hurts and the Eagles will get the chance to win a Super Bowl this Sunday as they face the Kansas City Chiefs and enter the game as -1.5 point favorites.
