New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been officially cleared to practice fully with his team as training camp starts this week. The quarterback, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in 2023, will get first-team reps in 11-on-11 drills, according to head coach Brian Daboll.
“Daniel Jones has been cleared for 11-on-11 drills. ‘He’s getting all the reps' with the ones,"Daboll said.
This news should come as a relief to New York Giants fans. However, not many are that excited and the comments on social media prove just that. Some Giants fans would rather give backup quarterback Drew Lock an opportunity to start over Jones.

The Giants will need to trust their quarterback, as they have invested a significant amount of money in his contract. Daniel Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract in March 2023. However, there is an option to end the contract after this season if things don't go as planned.
The Giants used the NFL Draft and free agency to build an offense around Daniel Jones. They drafted wide receiver Malik Nabers and signed veteran guard Jon Runyan to protect Jones. The organization hopes the 27-year-old quarterback will lead the Giants back to success.
Giants GM Joe Schoen mentions skepticism with Daniel Jones health
The New York Giants essentially committed to quarterback Daniel Jones when he signed a lucrative contract extension. It's no secret, though, that the quarterback has dealt with not only his recent ACL tear but also concussions and neck injuries throughout his young NFL career.
In this week's episode of "Hard Knocks," Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed some concerns about his quarterback's health. Leading up to the NFL Draft, he wanted Jones to know that he had faith in him, but he had to consider drafting a quarterback due to the many injuries he has faced in his career.
“It doesn’t mean I don’t confidence in you. You’ve missed 17 games since 2021,” Schoen said.
Just days before camp opened, Daniel Jones gave insight into his readiness for training camp:
"Feel good, yeah, I’m ready to go. Ready to go in training camp. I’m looking forward to Wednesday," he said.
It remains to be seen how the quarterback performs eight months after ACL surgery.
