Josh Allen injury update: NFL insider claims QB to miss multiple games

Josh Allen has been hit early and often in 2022, leading many to brace for the quarterback's injury news to hit the newswire. In Week 9, he took one hit too many and is now dealing with a UCL tear that could cost him some games.

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport outlined what kind of time the quarterback could be missing.

Put simply, he expected the quarterback, who is currently questionable for Sunday's matchup, to ultimately miss multiple games because of the injury.

"The fact that he's not out for the season, then it is something he can manage is excellent, excellent news for Bills Mafia and those fans and also Josh Allen himself, because that would be really bad. But it doesn't necessarily mean that he's going to play this week.

"And it seems to me to be somewhat similar, maybe not quite as bad, but somewhat similar to the UCL sprain he had in his rookie season or his second year where... he missed three or four games. And then, when he was able to get back, he looked like his old self. I don't think it'll be that many games, but that's sort of what I'm thinking."

Who is Josh Allen's backup quarterback?

If Josh Allen is unable to play, the spotlight will turn to Case Keenum. The latter has been a veteran starter in the league and has played for eight teams in his career.

In recent years, he led the Denver Broncos to a 6-10 record. More memorably, though, he took over for an injured Sam Bradford in 2017 and led the Minnesota Vikings on a tear.

He went 11-3 with the squad and threw for 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions en route to the team's first conference championship appearance since 2009. The Bills have two key pieces from that team in Stefon Diggs and Case Keenum.

Fans will hope to see a similar explosion for the quarterback if needed to take the pressure off Allen as he mends from injury.
