Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff's fiancee, Christen Harper, was named to a very special honor this week. Harper was named Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie of the Year. This year, there are two Rookies of the Year, the other being her best friend, Katie Austin.
Harper announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, saying how grateful she was for the honor. The model said that she grew up idolizing other Sports Illustrated swimsuit models and is humbled by the fact that she is now one of them.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editor-in-Chief, MJ Day, said in a statement that both Harper and Austin were chosen because of their support for one another.
“This whole brand is what you guys represent — fabulous people supporting each other, doing their thing bigger and better all the time."
Christen Harper and Katie Austin will now be invited to model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition next year as well.
Jared Goff proposed to his longtime girlfriend Christen Harper in June 2022. Harper's reaction to Goff's first win with the Detroit Lions last season went viral. She was actually shooting for Sports Illustrated at the time in Barbados and was made aware of the fact that the game had just ended.

The Detroit Lions may be just 1-4 through their first five games this season, but they are showing improvement.
Last season, Goff averaged just over six yards per pass, putting him at the bottom of the league amongst quarterbacks. This season, that number has bumped up to over nine yards per pass. He now ranks in the top five amongst quarterbacks with at least 100 passing attempts this season.
After the first five weeks of the season, the Lions are ranked in the top three for points scored with an average of 28 points per game. Last season, the Lions ranked 25th in points per game with just 19.
Additionally, the quarterback was able to ramp up his game without first-round draft pick wide receiver Jameson Williams. The rookie underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in January and has yet to take the field this season.
