In terms of Aaron Rodgers' wins and losses, the quarterback is faring as poorly as he has ever done in his career. At first, fans and pundits were in shock.
Now, as the league moves into its final third of the regular season, the tone is shifting to solutions. One NFL analyst has decided that trading the quarterback would be their best move following the season.
Speaking on Get Up, NFL analyst Chris Canty pressured the team to make the hard decision to move on.
"They should absolutely put Jordan Love on the field after the bye week to give him four games to see what he can do. But gee, independent of what we learned from Jordan Love, I think this should be Aaron Rodgers' last season in Green Bay because it's clear that this team is much closer to a rebuild than they are an actual title."
He continued, explaining that the cost of the quarterback is not worth the results he has produced:
"I'm not paying a 39-year-old quarterback $50 million a year to miss the playoffs. The reality is that this team is grossly underachieving, and it's not because of the young wide receivers and the lack of development..."
Lastly, he called for the team to start from scratch:
"I understand it's an ugly cap hit. It's a $40 million cap if you trade Aaron Rodgers before June 1st, but I think that's the only path for the organization to move forward. It's time to reset. They started down that road of replacing Aaron Rodgers. They need to rip the Band-Aid off this offseason."
Aaron Rodgers' final stat line?
If the Packers trade their quarterback in early 2023, it will be time to take stock of what he's been able to do in his time with Green Bay.
If his time ends at the conclusion of the ongoing season, the overall shape of his accomplishments have already taken shape. As it stands, he is 143-73-1, having completed 65.3 percent of his passes. He's earned 57,902 passing yards, 468 touchdowns, and 100 interceptions.
In comparison to his former mentor Brett Favre, he managed to beat him in several statistical categories. Favre went 160-93 and threw for a 61.4 percent completion percentage en route to throwing for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns, and 286 interceptions.
While Rodgers didn't quite reach the same win totals as Favre, he had a higher completion rate and threw for more touchdowns and significantly fewer interceptions. Over the last couple of years, fans have argued on both sides as to which quarterback is better, but neither has emerged as a clear-cut winner.
