New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas has been one of the top wide receivers in the NFL for the first five seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints.

Being an elite receiver, defense will likely target you in many ways, most notably by double-teaming you.

The three-time Pro Bowler shared a photo on his Twitter account of him being double-teamed in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Many NFL fans took note of Thomas' photo and shared their thoughts. Most said the photo was dated, and it had been a while since the wideout was ever double-teamed:

Fans even took shots at some quarterbacks when talking about the Saints' star wideout:

Thomas has faced the Eagles just twice in his NFL career, both as a player for the Saints. He met the Eagles for the first time in Week 11 of the 2018-2019 season. He had four receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown in that game. The second occurrence was in Week 14 of the 2020-2021 season, where he had eight receptions for 84 yards.

Last season, the Saints faced the Eagles, but Thomas didn't play in the game due to an ankle injury, causing him to miss the entire 2021-2022 season.

Michael Thomas hasn't had the best 2022-2023 season

Michael Thomas was set to bounce back this season after not playing a down for the New Orleans Saints last season. He's played just three games this season, getting 16 receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

He suffered a toe injury in the Saints' Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers and was placed on injured reserve before Week 9.

Those numbers are far from what he posted in the 2019-2020 season. That season, he led the NFL in receptions (149), yards (1,725), and yards per game (107.8). Michael Thomas broke the single-season record for receptions held by former Hall of Fame Indianapolis Colts wideout Marvin Harrison (143).

The former Ohio State receiver was the Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts that season. Fans will see the two-time All-Pro in the 2023-2024 season as his season is over.
