Odell Beckham Jr. has followed in Tom Brady's footsteps. As the free agent receiver continues to work back from injury, he has purchased an ownership stake in two sports franchises: Mexican soccer's Club Necaxa and the Washington D.C. expansion for Major League Pickleball.

Beckham got involved with an investor group led by Al Tylis and Sam Porter. The group outright owns the D.C. pickleball team, but bought a 50% stake in the soccer team at the end of 2021.

Sportico reported:

"The soccer club, based in Aguascalientes, was valued at $150 million in 2021 when it sold a 1% equity stake for $1.5 million via NFT; currently the club is valued in the mid- to low-$200 million range."

The ownership group that Beckham is now a part of includes other celebrities like Eva Longoria, Justin Verlander, Kate Upton, and Mesut Ozil. The 50% of the team that Beckham's group doesn't own is owned by Ernesto Tinajero, a prominent Mexican businessman.

Brady and other star athletes have already invested in pickleball and now Beckham is following suit. Brady and tennis star Kim Clijsters were part of an ownership group.

LeBron James, Draymond Green, Kevin Love and Drew Brees are also involved in pickleball ownership at this time.

Will Odell Beckham Jr. get signed this year?

Odell Beckham Jr.'s services were highly sought after this year. The Super Bowl-winning wide receiver was recovering from an ACL tear, but plenty of contenders were interested in eventually signing him.

However, after a visit with the Dallas Cowboys, it was leaked that he likely wouldn't have recovered in time to make an impact on the field.

At this stage of the season, a team would be desperately hoping he could recover and learn the playbook in time for the Super Bowl- which would also presume that said team made it that far.

Unfortunately, an ACL tear in the final game of the season has a long recovery time, something Odell Beckham Jr. learned first-hand this year. When he recovers next season, there will be no shortage of suitors.
