NFL fans had a lot to say about Stephen A. Smith's desire to run for office in the future. The veteran sports analyst has become one of the most popular and polarizing figures in the world of sports, and he hasn't been shy to express his opinion on different matters, including politics.
On Thursday, NFL insider Adam Schefter shared a video of the "First Take" host talking on "The View" about his political aspirations, with Smith saying that he'd love to face off against some politicians.
"I like my life. I'm living a pretty good life, but I must confess, I wish I could debate some of these guys," Smith said. "I'd love to be on the debate stage going up against these guys with the presidency on the line. I'm half joking, but I kinda mean it."
This clip turned heads, with some fans shooting down his idea.
"If this happens the United States will burn to the ground and what makes me even more terrified is that there are a bunch of idiots out there who would actually vote for him," one fan wrote.
"Wouldn’t even poll 5% lol," another fan posted.
"He doesn’t understand that debating doesn’t mean just getting louder until the other person gives up - like he does on his shows," another fan wrote.
Others criticized his appearance on this show while calling him an egomaniac and click chaser.
"If you have the support of the View..... We don't want you in any sort of political office, managing or owning any company, having any influence over anyone or making any decisions of significance. Actually, any decisions that effect more than yourself.... Thanks," one fan said.
Stephen A. Smith 'doubles down' on presidential aspirations on social media
After making a stir on social media, Stephen A. Smith didn't stop teasing fans. He reacted to the video Schefter shared with a message used in ads by presidential candidates.
"Hey @AdamSchefter…….I’m Stephen A. Smith (@stephenasmith) and I approve this message!😀😀😀," he tweeted.
Stephen A. Smith has had a strong opinion on several topics. He blamed Donald Trump for the polarization in the country and all the racist behavior that surfaced with the arrival of Caitlin Clark to the WNBA. Trump has been a common target for Smith, who said he would "eat Trump alive" in a presidential debate.
