In a sight dangerously close to falling into a pattern, Tom Brady was not present on the gridiron on Championship Sunday. However, he was not silent on the events that took place over the weekend. According to Sports Illustrated, the quarterback spoke about his impressions of the San Francisco 49ers-Philadelphia Eagles showdown and the injury to Brock Purdy.

In a statement originally transcribed by Cam Inman of The Mercury News, the quarterback appeared to not show much sympathy for the 49ers quarterback. Put simply, he claimed that injuries are inevitable and that the Eagles deserved to win the game in the end:

“Injuries play a role in every game and your margin of error changes quite a bit. Obviously, San Fran had really no chance to compete yesterday. That was tough just to see that happen, and at the same time it’s the reality of the sport."

Will Tom Brady play football again?

He continued, explaining that the nature of the sport makes injuries such as Purdy's inevitable:

"Philly deserved it. They had an incredible season. They played well on defense. They forced that pass and the injury to Brock Purdy on his elbow. It’s truly part of the sport. It’s a contact sport and that’s why it’s a demolition derby."

Like the 49ers, the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has his own important decisions to make about the future now that the season has come to an end. The quarterback reached the one-year anniversary of his original retirement in 2022. Of course, the move to slow down didn't stick, and the quarterback was back in the fold less than two months later.

Since then, Brady has signed a deal with FOX to call games for the network for 10 years following his retirement from the sport. With the deal now in place, the quarterback's next biggest decision is whether to take the network up on the deal this year or stick with playing the game.

If Brady decides to play one more season, many don't expect him to return to Tampa Bay. Pundits have cracked the door on the Las Vegas Raiders and 49ers as potential destinations, but the ultimate decision on whether to play another snap will be up to No. 12.
