Tom Brady's return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is rumored to have been the straw that broke the camel's back with his marriage. However, he's not giving up on his team. He and Gisele Bundchen are reportedly separated and if rumors are to be believed, barreling towards a divorce. But Brady maintains that he is focused on and committed to the Buccaneers.

He mentioned his commitment to the Buccaneers on the Let's Go! podcast:

"I made a commitment to this team, and I love this team and I love this organization. I told them in March I was playing and I’ve never quit on anything in my life. ... I want to keep fighting as hard as I can and I’m always trying to do better."

He continued, adding that the overall sport of football is something very important to him, as is his team:

"I’m always trying to work hard and I’m always trying to commit more to the things that are important to me. And this team is very important to me, and I certainly want to be the best I can be for them."

The Buccaneers have slipped to 3-4. Many NFL fans felt that Tom Brady may consider legitimately stepping away from football to try and repair his marriage. However, he's made it clear he is totally focused on football.

Is Tom Brady's commitment to the Buccaneers a bad thing?

It's generally never a bad thing for an NFL player to be wholly committed to his team. However, the prevailing theory is that that commitment may have contributed to Brady's rumored impending divorce. So realistically, the commitment can be called into question.

However, it is rumored that Brady and Bundchen are past the point of reconciliation and a divorce is coming. If that's the case, then his commitment to the team might help him. It could provide a bit of an escape. If he can sink into the Buccaneers, it may help keep his mind off what is sure to be a painful time.

There will also be a lot of people in the franchise who can help him if the speculation is accurate. From friends to therapists, the Buccaneers would try to give him whatever he needs. If it really is as bad as reported, there's no sense in walking away from the team to save something that can't be saved. What can be saved is the Buccaneers' season, and it seems he is fully focused on doing that.
