NFL analyst predicts things will get caustic in New York with Aaron Rodgers - “We know he’s sensitive”

New York Jets Introduce Quarterback Aaron Rodgers
There's some pessimism around Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform this year

Aaron Rodgers has yet to play his first live snap for the franchise, but the newest quarterback in New Jersey has pundits bracing for fireworks. Put simply, after watching the quarterback's frustrations in Green Bay play out over the last several years, many are not fully bought into the happier quarterback.

Speaking on Get Up, NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum predicted the quarterback's sunny presentation to get gloomier in 2023:

"Right now there's a honeymoon, he's going to Knicks games, he's going to Rangers games, that's great. If they get off to a slow start - which with that schedule is entirely possible - It's going to test his patience, and it's going to test his demeanor."

He continued, expecting ten times the frustration of Green Bay:

"We know he's sensitive. And I just hope from a Jet perspective, they get off to a good start, because the expectations are so high. Everything in New York is times 10. When it's great, it's times 10. But when it's bad, it's catastrophic. And it's something we got to watch carefully."

How many games will Aaron Rodgers lose in 2023?

To begin the season, No. 8 faces a difficult opening gauntlet of teams. He'll face the Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, and Chiefs in the first four weeks. Most would consider the Patriots' game to be the easiest of the four, but the QB has historically struggled to defeat the team. That means the Jets could go 0-4 before facing Russell Wilson in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.

Then, following that, the Jets face the Philadelphia Eagles. 1-5 could be a real possibility. The second half of the season softens up only a touch, with the team's next five matchups coming against either 2021 or 2022 playoff contenders. He'll face the Giants, Chargers, Raiders, Bills, and Dolphins, setting up for another under .500 run of 2-3 or worse.

However, mercifully, Rodgers will then face the easiest chunk of the season, facing the Falcons, Texans, Dolphins, Commanders, Browns, and Patriots. The franchise could see a 4-2 run or better to wrap the year on a positive note, putting the team in high spirits to enter the offseason with a 7-10 record.
