Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has landed in hot water yet again after a controversial photo of him did the rounds on social media. The photo shows him at North Little Rock High School in 1957.

He was one of many white students apparently trying to prevent African-American students from desegregating the school. The photo was discovered by the Washington Post as part of an investigation into NFL owners and their hiring practices.

The Cowboys owner, who was 15 at the time, recently commented on the photo. After the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants on Thanksgiving night, he said that he didn't realize at the time what he and his classmates were doing. He also emphasized that it is an important reminder to do things the right way.

He said:

“That was 65 years ago. I had no idea when I walked up what we were doing. It's just a reminder to me of how to improve and do things the right way.”

Many on Twitter didn't believe that the Arkansas native was unaware of what he was taking part in, although others believed that he was unsure of what he was getting himself into. Opinions were truly split on the image of Jones and his reponse.

How long has Jerry Jones been the owner of the Dallas Cowboys?

Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys in February 1989 for $140 million from H.R. Bright and one of his first moves was firing Tom Landry.

Landry was seen as the heart and soul of the Cowboys franchise and fans were shocked when Jones decided to dismiss him. He then hired his former teammate from the University of Arkansas, Jimmy Johnson, who ended up leading the Cowboys' dynasty in the mid 1990s.

When he sold the Cowboys, Bright, the former owner, said that he was losing an average of $1 million a month. In the 33 years that Jerry Jones has owned the team, he has made it one of the wealthiest sports franchises in the world, raking in $10 billion in revenue each season.

The Dallas Cowboys are said to be worth an estimated $7.64 billion as of August 2022. That's over $600 million more than the Los Angeles Rams, who are the second wealthiest franchise in the National Football League.
