The Minnesota Vikings have officially been eliminated from the playoffs after Brian Daboll and his New York Giants sprung the upset, winning 31-24 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

In the build-up to this game, many picked New York to triumph over Minnesota and that's exactly what happened.

In a game that was all offense, the Giants took the Vikings defense to the cleaners as quarterback Daniel Jones played the best game of his NFL career. They came in and took care of business with Minnesota left to rue a season in which they won 12 games, only to be one-and-done in the playoffs.

Who are the Super Bowl favorites?

As expected, given Minnesota was at home and heavy favorites, the fact they lost sent social media into a frenzy with fans mercilessly roasting the team.

One fan wrote that the Vikings are always choking.

"Vikings always choking."

Another NFL fan posted that the collapse was "vintage" Minnesota.

"Vintage Minnesota."

The roasting didn't stop there, however, as fans absolutely piled on the Vikings after losing to the Giants.

After their 12-win season, the jury was still out on Minnesota as most of its wins came in close games. But against better opposition, they were found wanting...much like today.

In what was a high-scoring game, the Vikings, led by Kirk Cousins, couldn't get the win their fans craved. What perhaps made the loss sting a little more was the fourth down play call that ended the game.

Needing eight yards, Cousins threw a pass to TJ Hockenson which was well short of the line to gain, infuriating fans all over the stadium.

In truth, the Giants were full value for the win as they advanced to the next round. Jones played his best-ever game in the NFL as he torched the Minnesota defense with his arm and his legs. He finished with 301 passing yards and two touchdowns, along with 78 rushing yards.

For Minnesota, it is yet another season of failure along with Cousins and there will be serious questions asked of the quarterback.

This will be hard to take for the Vikings. At home, heavy favorites and they got beaten.

They now have an entire offseason to mull over it. Yikes.
