NFL Trade Rumors: Bills insider provides major update on DeAndre Hopkins pursuit

Could the Buffalo Bills be interested in bringing DeAndre Hopkins to the north? The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver has been the subject of rampant trade rumors, especially since the team has fallen on hard times. He's an elite playmaker, but he's costing them a lot.

They could trade him and recoup some assets for their mini-rebuild under new head coach Jonathan Gannon. The Bills make perfect sense, since a duo of Stefon Diggs and Hopkins would be unstoppable.

Bills insider Sal Capaccio said the Bills might consider it on the Pat McAfee Show:

"I think as long as Brandon Beane doesn't shut that door, it remains a possibility, right? I mean, he's done the same thing with Odell Beckham… I do think this could be a reality. It's going to come down to obviously compensation for the Cardinals what they're asking you then something has to be reworked on the contract."

He continued:

"The Bills just can't take on the contract as is. But there's been a lot of reporting that maybe DeAndre in his side would be able to, you know, redo a new contract, and maybe Arizona would eat some money there."

The Bills can't take on Hopkins as is, especially with his large contract. However, they can offer a package nice enough to convince the Cardinals to pay some of the salary, or a restructured contract could be in order.

This is not an active trade, but it is one that Capaccio believes the Bills are and should be monitoring.

The Buffalo Bills have one major hole on their roster, and it's a pass catcher that's not named Stefon Diggs. Diggs was excellent this year, but behind him, Dawson Knox, Isaiah McKenzie and Gabe Davis were inconsistent.
