On Sunday, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were thoroughly dismantled by the San Francisco 49ers. It was so bad that the quarterback's mind was elsewhere as soon as it was over. The Buccaneers faced a third-string rookie quarterback in his first ever start and were defeated 35-7.

On the Let's Go! podcast, the future Hall of Famer admitted he nearly forgot his family was in the stands. He's from the area and this was a big game for him, but the Buccaneers were unfortunately not up to the task. Here's what he said:

“We got our a** kicked, and I was walking from the locker room to the bus — a kind of long walk of 500 yards or so — and just as I got to the bus the woman who I was with said, ‘Hey, didn’t you want to see your family?'...'They stayed?'”

He continued:

“So I turned around and walked back. And at least after the game I got to see my sisters, nieces and some cousins. My parents left in the third quarter, thankfully, to get home.”

Despite the loss, the star quarterback admitted he could see the silver lining after 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel was carted off in front of him:

"Losing sucks — but I also saw Deebo Samuel carted off the field. I’ve been carted off the field. Sometimes you think that even though losing sucks, at least I’ve got a chance to go out there again next week. It’s just a different perspective."

Tom Brady will indeed be back out there next week against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is a huge game for both franchises who are looking to win their divisions and make it to the postseason.

Was this the worst loss of Tom Brady's career?

Tom Brady has lost quite a few games over his lengthy career. Just by virtue of playing for so long, an accumulation of losses is inevitable. This one, though, was one of the worst.

The 28-point margin of defeat was the third-worst he had ever faced. In 2003, the New England Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills 31-0. In 2020, the New Orleans Saints handed Brady the worst loss he had ever seen: a 38-3 trouncing.

That was nearly followed up by the loss to the 49ers on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how the Buccaneers bounce back after this one.
