Budweiser has created some of the Super Bowl's most iconic commercials, what do they have planned for this year's big game?

Super Bowl LVII is quickly approaching, which means some of the year's best commercials will entertain fans during the game. Budweiser, which is part of the Anheiser-Busch company, will take a different approach for this year's commercial. The company will spend the majority of their budget for the game, airing commercials for three of their brands: Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Busch Light.

Those three brands will get three total minutes of airtime during the big game. The last two years, Anheiser-Busch has had a total of four minutes in Super Bowl commercials. This new commercial format comes a year after the company didn't re-sign its exclusivity deal with the NFL that was said to be worth $250 million. This now leaves the door open for other alcohol brands to advertise throughout the league.

Budweiser will get just one 30-second commercial, so there is still a chance that fans will get to see the iconic Clydesdale horses gracing their television screens. Last year, Budweiser turned their focus on the 'fads' that the alcohol industry was experiencing at the time, which included the brand's seltzer. Budweiser will now go back to focusing on their main products and their loyal customer base.

In an interview with CNN, Benoit Garbe, the chief marketing officer for Anheuser-Busch said that, although there will be less air time for the brand, there won't be a shortage of star power. The Budweiser Super Bowl commercial will feature a voiceover from actor Kevin Bacon, and according to Garbe, the Bud Light commercial will feature one of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Cost of a Super Bowl ad in 2022 vs. 2023

While NFL fans are immersed in the big game and the commercials that come along with the big game, brands spend months coming up with the best ideas that will have people talking the next day about what they saw. So, how much does a Super Bowl commercial cost the brand?

According to USA Today, in 2022, a 30-second commercial costs $6.5 million, which comes out to about $230,000 per second. So, how much will a 30-second commercial cost in 2023? Well, due to the rising costs of nearly everything, it's reported that it will now cost a company about $7 million for that short commercial.

So, is it a smart business move to spend that much money for just 30 seconds? Actually, yes. The Super Bowl brings in about 100 million viewers, a much bigger audience than any other commercial or marketing technique could ever bring in. USA Today reports that recent studies have shown that revenue from commercials during the big game has brought in about $400 million.
