Justin Bieber is one of the most famous pop stars in the world. However, the Grammy award-winning performer is now part of a lawsuit over a concert he did during last year's Super Bowl weekend.
He and rapper Kodak Black are being taken to court over a shooting that happened following Bieber's after-party concert in Los Angeles. The two men suing both performers claim they were hit by bullets.
In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman say they were shot and severely injured last February in a shooting outside The Nice Guy venue. Three people, including Kodak, were shot outside of The Nice Guy.
The rapper's representatives say as he was exiting the venue, someone in his camp was blindsided by an unknown attacker. Kodak then became involved to help his friend out prior to shots being fired. Schaefer and Rahman stated that Kodak was a big reason why the shooting took place per the lawsuit.
Both men said Kodak was trying to cause injury and skyrocket the incident, placing responsibility for the shooting all upon him. What's more, the alleged victims claim security at the venue was lacking.
They note that security guards who were employed failed to do their job. The Nice Guy’s promoters, Justin Bieber and Kodak, thus bear some accountability too, according to Schaefer and Rahman.
Who else are the men going after besides Justin Bieber and Kodak Black?
The supposed victims are pursuing Kodak, Bieber, The Nice Guy, The Hwood Group, Revolve Group, the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles County for compensation. The victims are being represented by well-known attorney Gloria Allred.
Bradford Cohen, Kodak's lawyer, spoke to TMZ regarding the complaints from the lawsuit:
"I have seen a lot of bad complaints in my day. This is the most poorly drafted complaint I have seen in 26 years. I expect Kodak to be dismissed from this suit fairly quickly."
Cohen added:
"There is zero specificity in the complaint and Ms. Allred groups the defendants all together instead of making specific allegations against each. It's law school 101. I am embarrassed for Ms. Allred that she actually signed her name to that complaint."
Time will tell as to what will happen to Justin Bieber, Kodak, and the other parties named in the lawsuit. The legal battle is in its preliminary stages.
