Kamaru Usman is an up and coming UFC Fighter, who could very well be one of the top fighters of all

time if his career goes well. An immense talent in the world of MMA, Usman’s abilities in the

Octagon is beyond even the shadow of a doubt.

Early life and debut

Born in Nigeria, Usman and his family immigrated to the United States of America when he was just

8-years-old. In his high school wrestling career, Usman accumulated an excellent record of 53-3 in

amateur wrestling. His wrestling career continued as he was able to help his college win its first-ever

overall team title in 2008, and during his college life, he earned NCAA Division II All-American during

all three years. Usman made his debut in the world of Mixed Martial Arts after training and fought in

5 regional fight promotions before coming to The Ultimate Fighter of UFC.

UFC Career

On The Ultimate Fighter, he won both of his major fights, before winning the Ultimate Fighter 21

Welterweight Tournament by defeating Haydar Hassan. From then on, Usman fought whoever was

placed in front of him, somehow improving more and more with every fight that he took part in. He

defeated Alexander Yakovlev, Sean Strickland and Demian Maia before making it to a fight against

Rafael Dos Anjos. A performance of the night here earned him a lot of attention.

Current Status

Having won every fight in UFC, he is now number 2 at Welterweight and is about to challenge Tyron

Woodley for the UFC Welterweight Championship. A win here is sure to cement his legacy in the

company. Kamaru’s MMA figures stand at 14-1 at present, as of January 18, 2019.
