The Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins event is shaping up to be an exciting one for both shiny hunters and PvP enthusiasts. It will run from Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10 am to Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 8 pm local time. It will include a variety of Pokemon, some of which have considerable potential in various GO Battle Leagues.
The Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins event is the ideal time to stock up on solid PvP contenders because they are becoming more common in the wild and through Incense.
Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins: Best PvP picks to hunt
1) Sableye

Due to its uncommon typing (Dark/Ghost), which has only one weakness (Fairy), Sableye is still one of the best picks in the Great League. With its bulk and spammy move set, it can outlast opponents and is a versatile safe switch in many PvP teams.
To get the most out of its Great League potential, look for one with high Defense/HP stats during the Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins event.

2) Phantump

Because of its superior typing (Ghost/Grass) and access to Shadow Claw and Seed Bomb, Trevenant, the evolved form of Phantump, is a mainstay in PvP. With a strong Attack stat, it can swiftly turn battles around and effectively handle common threats like Azumarill, Swampert, and Jellicent.
Farm as many Phantump as you can during the Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins event for a chance to get both good IV spreads and a shiny variant that stands out.

3) Drilbur

The Ground/Steel variant of Drilbur, Excadrill, is a formidable opponent in the Master League, and it's becoming more and more competitive in the Ultra League. Excadrill performs best when combined with XL Candy and strong PvP IVs because it has powerful counters to Electric, Fairy, and Rock types.
It is difficult to overlook as a high-pressure pick due to its potent Drill Run/Rock Slide combination and quick-charging Mud Shot.
4) Golett

Although Golurk isn't a popular choice for open leagues, its distinct Ghost/Ground typing makes it valuable in niche PvP cups where anti-meta picks are dominant. With powerful charge moves like Shadow Punch and Earth Power, as well as the access to Mud-Slap, Golurk can take unprepared opponents by surprise.
In a future limited format, it might be beneficial to farm a Golett in the Pokemon GO Phantom Ruins event with strong PvP stats now.

5) Skorupi

With Poison/Dark typing and the ability to use Poison Sting for quick energy generation, Drapion is a multifaceted PvP powerhouse. It is a versatile choice against numerous core threats due to its broad coverage provided by its ability to run Crunch, Sludge Bomb, or Aqua Tail.
Drapion works well in both Great and Ultra League formats, and is ideal for bait-and-switch tactics due to its bulk and spamming capabilities.
