While most of Bouffalant’s body is clear of markings, its face has a single black outline around its eyes that falls down below its chin while each horn has two golden rings on them. Bouffalant is 5 foot and 3 inches, or 1.6 meters tall.

Bouffalant Appearance

Behavior

Bouffalant has been featured as a wild Pokemon as well as a reliable Pokemon in battle throughout its appearances in the anime. It is a territorial Pokemon and will charge any person or Pokemon that wanders too close to its territory. Bouffalant is also known to be highly aggressive as they will wildly charge and headbutt for fun. The Pokedex mentions that Bouffalant’s charge is capable of crushing a car.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Bouffalant has a healthy HP pool as well as a respectable physical and special defense stat. While it has a high physical attack stat as well, it has a very slow speed stat to match which makes it a more defensive option rather than an offensive Pokemon. As a normal type Pokemon, Bouffalant will only take 2x damage from fighting type moves, is immune to ghost types but it does not resist any other type in the franchise.

Best Moveset

Since Bouffalant’s introduction in generation five, it has not performed strongly in competitive battles. Bouffalant has often been near the bottom of competitive brackets due to its slow speed stat. Nevertheless, you can attempt to utilize it as a revenge attacker, as it can typically take hits and hopefully One Hit KO your opponent’s Pokemon. Consider running Substitute, Swords Dance, Return, and Earthquake. Substitute will give your Bouffalant time and safety to set up, Swords Dance can take advantage of its naturally high physical attack, Return benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), and Earthquake can be used as type coverage.

How to Catch Bouffalant in Pokemon Go

If you would like to obtain a Bouffalant in Pokemon Go, there is only one way to do so. Bouffalant is a region exclusive Pokemon, which means it can only be found in certain geographical locations across the world. It will spawn naturally in New York City in the United States and can be hatched from 5 km eggs. However, these eggs need to originate from New York City to have a chance to hatch into Bouffalant. Unfortunately, it has yet to appear as a raid boss in Pokemon Gyms, so you will need to travel if you want to complete your collection of Pokemon. As Bouffalant has no evolutions, you can reserve any candies you obtain into powering it up.

FAQ

Does Tauros evolve into Bouffalant?

Both Tauros and Bouffalant are standalone Pokemon, which means that they do not evolve from or into any other Pokemon. Neither of these Pokemon are connected by an evolution line and neither have any evolutions to begin with. While both of these Pokemon seem similar, it is simply due to their source material resembling bison-like animals.

Who evolves from Bouffalant?

Bouffalant has no evolutions in its line. Once you have encountered or obtained a Bouffalant, you do not need to worry about missing a pre-evolution or a final evolution. It is a standalone normal type Pokemon with no other stages or conditions for evolution.

How do you get Bouffalant?

In Pokemon Black and White you can find it on Route 10. With Black and White 2 it’s spawn location was switched to Route 23 while also being available in Hidden Grottos. Bouffalant was not available in X and Y, you would have to trade it from a different game. Sun and Moon followed this trend and you would have to get a Bouffalant from Pokemon Bank. Finally, Bouffalant became available in Sword and Shield through the expansion pass where it can be encountered in the Soothing Wetlands.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Bash Buffalo Pokemon”. While Bouffalant has not been too impactful in the competitive environment, it is by no means a weak Pokemon. It suffers from a lack of type coverage as well as a slow speed stat, but it is more than capable of taking damage as well as dealing damage. Reserve a slot for Bouffalant if you want an all around Pokemon on your team.
