How to get Fan Rotom in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny?

Fan Rotom in Pokemon GO debuts during GO Fest 2025. It will be available only to trainers attending the in-person events in Osaka (May 29 - June 1), Jersey City (June 6 - 8), and Paris (June 13 - 15). This is the final form of Rotom to be released in the mobile game and is a dual Electric- and Flying-type.

GO Snapshot

Trainers attending the in-person GO Fest 2025 events in Osaka (May 29 - June 1), Jersey City (June 6 - 8), and Paris (June 13 - 15) can get up to three Fan Rotom encounters on each day of the event. To do so, you must take snapshots of your buddy or wild encounters.

If a Fan Rotom appears while you are photographing your Pokemon, exiting the Snapshot screen will lead to an encounter with Fan Rotom. Here on, you must capture it using Poke Balls.

When encountered via GO Snapshot, Fan Rotom can be at most level 35. If you are lucky enough to find its perfect IV variant, it will have 2,211 CP.

Trade

If you are not attending the in-person events or don't have a ticket, you can ask an in-game friend to trade you this critter. This will count as a Special Trade, which might cost a hefty amount of XP, depending on your friendship level with the trader.

Can Fan Rotom be shiny in Pokemon GO?

Yes, Shiny Fan Rotom in Pokemon GO is available at the time of release. While the regular variant is orange, the shiny is red. There is a 1-in-64 chance of encountering Shiny Fan Rotom.
