Ramon Foster is hoping to be on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers in week one of the NFL season.

The 32-year-old offensive lineman was carted off the field after he suffered a knee injury in late July. He was expected to miss four to six weeks after he was diagnosed with an MCL strain and a bone bruise.

Foster, however, returned to practice on Monday and said he thinks he will play in Pittsburgh's regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 9. He also said he initially believed the injury was career-ending.

"I thought it was over," Foster said (via ESPN).

"But we got the MRI and it's one of those things where you're calm now, you've got a shot. To say I'd be ready for week one, I honestly didn't think that, either. But the body's weird."

Foster has spent his entire nine-year career with the Steelers. He has started 44 games over the last three seasons.
