Lucknow Super Giants joined the Indian Premier League as one of the two new franchises ahead of the IPL 2022 season. The RPSG Group, which previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiant team, successfully bid for the first-ever Lucknow-based franchise on October 25, 2021.
There were six bidders in the race to buy the new franchise. RPSG Group submitted the biggest bid worth INR 7,090 crore to buy the team.
Lucknow Super Giants will play their home matches at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. The venue is located in Lucknow. It has not hosted any IPL match so far, but the ground has hosted several international matches. It has a seating capacity of 50,000.
Lucknow Super Giants signed three players in the pre-season draft. The three names were KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. At the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, they spent INR 59 crore to sign 18 players. Here is their full squad:

Lucknow Super Giants unveiled their logo on social media with a special video post. The logo has a tri-color background with a bat in the centre. The team’s name is written in the middle of the bat. The bat and team name are in blue colour, hinting that the team may have a blueish jersey.
The Lucknow Super Giants have not revealed their home or away kits so far.
Lucknow Super Giants took over the social media handles of Rising Pune Supergiant team soon after the RPSG Group bought the Lucknow IPL franchise. Initially, the handle’s name was the official IPL Lucknow IPL team, and later it was updated to the Lucknow Super Giants.
As of February 17, 2022, the Super Giants have 533k followers on Instagram, 435.7k followers on Twitter and 141k likes on Facebook.

The RPSG Group owns the Lucknow Super Giants team. The group is owned by Sanjeev Goenka. It is an Indian multinational conglomerate founded back in July 2011. As of today, their businesses are in IT-enabled services, power and energy, carbon black manufacturing, retail, FMCG, media and entertainment, infrastructure and education.
The CEO of the Lucknow Super Giants team is Raghu Iyer. The team is yet to appoint a team manager, but they have added three names to the backroom staff. Former Zimbabwe player Andy Flower is the head coach of the team, with former Indian player Vijay Dahiya being his assistant. 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 Cricket World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir is the team’s mentor.
