Rafael Nadal is probably the greatest competitor in the history of the French Open with 14 titles to his name. This is the most number of times any player, male or female, has won any Grand Slam singles title in the Open Era.

Nadal’s 14th and last Roland Garros title till date came in 2022 when he was seeded second. The Spaniard beat Casper Ruud in the final this year made a historic win, winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes. He did not drop a single set during the competition. With this victory, Nadal made the record for most (14) Grand Slam singles titles.

Rafael Nadal’s first victory at the French Open came in 2005 when he beat Mariano Puerta in the final. He won the tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2008 by beating Roger Federer in each final.


However, Nadal’s winning run at the French Open came to an end in 2009 when he lost to Robin Soderling in the fourth round. He then won the tournament from 2010-2014 before losing in the quarterfinals in 2015. Nadal won his record 10th French Open title in 2017 and also triumphed in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
