Cody Rhodes is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE where he is drafted on the Monday Night RAW brand. Known as The American Nightmare, Rhodes is also known for his work in All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Rhodes’ birth name is Cody Garrett Runnels which he legally changed to Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes during his teenage. He was born on June 30, 1985 in Marietta, Georgia. He is a second-generation wrestler born to the visionary Dusty Rhodes. His older half-brother is Dustin Rhodes also known by the name Goldust in WWE.

The American Nightmare made his professional wrestling debut in 2006 in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE’s former development territory. He made it to WWE in July 2007 and has never looked back ever since. He was a member of the Legacy alongside Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase for around two to three years before going solo as the Dashing and Undashing Cody Rhodes in 2011.

Around the same time, he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and introduced the famous white strap belt. In 2013, he started teaming up with his brother Goldust and defeated The Shield for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

After a failed run as Stardust, Rhodes parted ways with WWE. He would then go on to become the hottest Indies prospect in the next two years while also performing for Ring of Honor.

In 2018, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer commented that no promotion other than WWE could sell more than 10000 tickets, to which Rhodes took a challenge. Along with his friends, he organized All In which sold that figure in less than 30 minutes. The huge success of the event eventually laid the foundation for All Elite Wrestling.

In AEW, Rhodes served as an EVP and won the AEW TNT Championship three times. He left the promotion in AEW to rejoin WWE. Since his return, Rhodes has won the Royal Rumble twice, headlined WrestleMania, and defeated the likes of Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, and more.

What is Cody Rhodes theme song?

Cody Rhodes uses “Kingdom by Downstait” as his theme song in WWE. It is one of the most popular theme songs in the professional wrestling industry right now. There has rarely been a moment in WWE when fans did not go berserk after Kingdom hit the titantron.

It's a high-energy rock anthem that perfectly captures his larger-than-life persona. The driving guitar riff and pounding drums create a sense of power and anticipation, while the soaring melody adds a touch of grandeur. The lyrics, though not explicitly featured during his entrance, speak of resilience, defiance, and building one's own destiny – themes that resonate deeply with Cody's wrestling character.

Cody Rhodes Woah Oh!

Fans sing along with Cody Rhodes’ theme song and a large credit of it goes to Woah Oh part of it. The "woah" chant in Cody Rhodes' entrance has become a signature element, electrifying crowds and adding a layer of audience participation. It wasn't originally part of the song "Kingdom," but rather a spontaneous addition by fans.

There's a specific point in the song where the instrumental section takes a brief pause, right before a powerful guitar solo kicks in. This is where the crowd has seamlessly inserted a booming "woah!" that builds anticipation for the next musical surge.

Cody Rhodes Kingdom Lyrics

[Verse 1]

Adrenaline in my soul

Every fight out of control

Do it all to get them off their feet

Crowd is here, about to blow

Waitin' for me to start the show

Out the curtain, lights go up, I'm home

(Whoa!)

[Pre-Chorus]

And my father said, when I was younger

Hard times breed better men (better men!)

[Chorus]

You took it all away, I give it all away

Can't take my freedom

Here to change the game, a banner made of pain

I built my kingdom

Now you bow to me

You took my dreams but not my name

You'll follow me into the end

I am my kingdom

[Verse 2]

Lights go down, I'm ready now

Tear this roof off for the town

Gonna give 'em what they came to see

Hear the crowd on their toes

Ready for me to start the show

Out the curtain, lights go up, I'm home

(Whoa!)

[Pre-Chorus]

And my father said, when I was younger

Hard times breed better men (better men!)

[Chorus]

You took it all away, I give it all away

Can't take my freedom

Here to change the game, a banner made of pain

I built my kingdom

Now you bow to me

You took my dreams but not my name

You'll follow me into the end

I am my kingdom

[Bridge]

You tried to tell me what to do

(I saw the door and kicked it down)

I stepped right over and right through

(And you can never stop me now)

Bow! Now!

(I am the king and you're the clown)

Now watch me as I take my throne

And rule my kingdom

[Chorus]

You took it all away, I give it all away

Can't take my freedom

Here to change the game, a banner made of pain

I built my kingdom

Now you bow to me

You took my dreams but not my name

You'll follow me into the end

I am my kingdom

You took it all away, I give it all away (Give it all away)

Can't take my freedom

Here to change the game, a banner made of pain (I'm here to change the game)

I built my kingdom

Now you bow to me

You took my dreams but not my name

You'll follow me into the end

I am my kingdom

[Outro]

Now you bow to me
