Vincent Kennedy McMahon is an American businessman, media proprietor, sports executive and professional wrestling promoter. He is the co-founder of the world’s largest wrestling promotion, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and is the current Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings. Vince followed his father’s footsteps and found interest in professional wrestling. He wished to be a pro-wrestler, but his father didn’t allow him to separate promoters from wrestlers.

In 1969 McMahon started as a ring announcer for his father’s World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) promotion’s All-Star Wrestling. In 1970's he became one of the undeniable forces in his father's company, which made him acquire authority. He played a big role in renaming the company from WWWF to WWF (World Wrestling Federation).

In 1980, Vince McMahon & his wife Linda McMahon founded the Titan Sports headquarters in Massachusetts. Titan Sports acquired the control of CWC in 1982 and the official Vince McMahon era began there.

In 1983, Vince splitted his association with National World Alliance and started promoting the company from regional level to national level promotion. In 1984, he hired the megastar of the wrestling industry Hulk Hogan, after which the wrestling industry started to see the boom and got global recognition. In 1984 the company hosted inaugural WrestleMania which is now the greatest professional wrestling event. As the company started to boom, it saw a rapid decline in the early 1990's by the rival company WCW and after Bret Hart leaving the company after Montreal Screwjob. McMahon started making some adult content in the show and added more interesting storylines which eventually worked and took the company to new heights. WWF became the monopoly of the wrestling industry in the second half of 1990's. McMahon purchased its rival WCW and ECW in 2001 and acquired its assets.

In May 2002, WWF was forced to change its name to WWE after legal disputes with the World Wildlife Fund. McMahon then took the company to newer heights and no competitors succeeded the company. In 2022, McMahon retired from his roles as Chairman and CEO of WWE and named his Daughter, Stephanie McMahon as permanent Chairwoman and Nick Khan as Co-CEO of the company. In 2023, he sold the shares of the company to endeavor to merge under TKO Group Holdings.

How much did Vince sell WWE for?

In April 2023, UFC's parent company Endeavor reached a deal with WWE to merge UFC and WWE under the new publicly traded company TKO Group Holdings. Where McMahon accepted the deal and sold 51% of WWE's stakes to Endeavor and the rest 49% remained with WWE Shareholders, valuing WWE at $9.3 billion. As a result of TKO group holdings McMahon now owns 34% of shares from TKO Group, which is 37.6% of WWE's total share. His shares are now worth 28.7 million shares of the company's total stock.
