Fernando Valenzuela Anguamea was a professional baseball player who played for MLB teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers (1980-1990), California Angels (1991), Baltimore Orioles (1993), Philadelphia Phillies (1994), San Diego Padres (1995–1997), and the St. Louis Cardinals (1997). He hailed from Navojoa, Mexico, and made his MLB debut on September 15, 1980. Valenzuela signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1976 and won the MLB World Series in 1981. He was also a six-time MLB All-Star player throughout his career. His other notable accomplishments include the NL Cy Young Award, the Jackie Robinson NL Rookie of the Year Award, two NL Silver Slugger Awards, and the Rawlings NL Gold Glove Award.

Valenzuela's last MLB game was for the St. Louis Cardinals on July 14, 1997. Following his retirement, he served as the Spanish language color commentator on radio and TV for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He became a Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Famer in 2014. Valenzuela passed away on October 22, 2024, at a hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 63.
