Starling Marte is a professional baseball player who plays for the New York Mets organization in the Major Leaguе Basеball (MLB). He hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and is nicknamed as Tato, as per MLB. Starling Marte made his MLB debut on July 26, 2012, for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his eight seasons for the Pirates from 2012–2019, he received two straight Gold Glove Awards in 2015 and 2016 and was selected for the All-Star team in 2016. Marte was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020. Marte ended that season by getting the Miami Marlins into the playoffs and led MLB with 47 stolen bases in 2021, tying his career best. After a short stay with the Oakland Athletics in 2021, he signed with the New York Mets and again was selected to the All-Star team in 2022. As of May 2025, Marte has the most stolen bases with 354 and triples with 55.
