Russell Westbrook is arguably the most electrifying players in the NBA today. He brings the same intensity into the game every time he steps his foot on the basketball court. He is also one of the most explosive dunkers in the NBA.
Westbrook, the 2017 NBA MVP is known as "Mr. Triple Double" and is currently 4th on all-time triple-double leaders list with 104, only three behind Jason Kidd's 107 who is third on the list. Westbrook led the league in scoring in 2015 and 2017.
He is also the only player in the history of NBA to average a triple-double per game over the course of an entire season in two seasons, a feat he has achieved in two consecutive years, 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. We take a look at the seven-time All-Star's ten highest scoring games in the NBA.
#10 48 at Phoenix Suns, 3rd March, 2017
Stat line: 48 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals on 46.7% shooting
The OKC Thunder just lost a game against the Portland Trail Blazers on road and were up against a subpar Phoenix Suns. Westbrook went for 48 points on a 14-30 shooting, with a field-goal percentage of 46.7. He also had 17 rebounds and 9 assists on the night but couldn't get the win.
Westbrook could not be stopped by the Suns' defenders and went for 17-18 from the free-throw line. He was +10 on the night but did not have got enough support from the other players as the Suns beat Thunder, 118-111.
Eric Bledsoe was the top-scorer for Suns with 18. Devin Booker too made his presence known with 17 points. Suns' bench combined for incredible 55 points and went for 24-40 from the field.
#9 48 at Orlando Magic, 30th October 2015
Stat line: 48 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, a steal and a block on 47.2% shooting
The Oklahoma City Thunder started the 2015-16 season well winning their first two games and were up against the Orlando Magic who lost their first two games and was looking to get their first win of the season.
Westbrook dropped 48 points on a 17 of 36 shooting with a field-goal percentage of 47.2. The Magic defenders had tough-time guarding Russ and he went for 13 of 16 from the free-throw line. He also had 11 rebounds and 8 assists on the night. Kevin Durant too exploded with 43 points of his own and the Thunder won this double-overtime thriller by 3 points.
For Orlando, Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic combined for 56 on 19 of 33 shooting to keep them in the game. Oladipo had a rough night, having gone for 8 of 27 and scored 21 points.
#8 48 vs New Orleans Pelicans, 6th February, 2015
Stat line: 48 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals on 53.6% shooting
The Thunder beat Pelicans two nights before on-road and came back to OKC to host the Pelicans. Westbrook went beast mode and scored 48 points on a 15-28 shooting with a field-goal percentage of 53.6. He also had 9 rebounds and 11 assists on the night.
Westbrook was +5 on the game and shot the ball really well. He went for 3-5 from beyond the arc with a 3-point field-goal percentage of 60.0. Kevin Durant scored 25 points but it was not sufficient as Thunder lost the game on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Anthony Davis.
For Pelicans, Anthony Davis went red-hot from the field scoring 41 on a 15-23 shooting with a field-goal percentage of 65.2. He was well supported by Tyreke Evans who had 22 points of his own.
#7 49 at Houston Rockets, 5th January, 2017

In a highly-anticipated game between two MVP-candidates, Russell Westbrook exploded for a monster performance with 49 points but couldn't get the win against stacked Rockets.
The Thunder came into this game after heart-breaking losses against the Bucks and Charlotte and was looking to get back to winning ways but James Harden led Rockets had other plans for them.
Westbrook knocked an elbow-jumper to start the game and went for 49 on a 16-34 shooting with a field-goal percentage of 47.1. He also recorded 8 rebounds and 5 assists in this high-octane game.
James Harden was rusty and scored 26 on a 6-16 shooting but it was Nene who came up big with 18 points on a 6-6 shooting to give Rockets a 2-point win, 118-116. Nene's heroics also included two game-winning free-throws.
#6 50 at Denver Nuggets, 9th April, 2017
Stat line: 50 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal on 53.1 % shooting
Westbrook recorded his 42nd triple-double of the 2016-17 season and set a new record for highest number of triple-doubles in a single-season. He capped this performance with a game-winning three-pointer that eliminated Denver Nuggets out of playoffs contention.
Russ was 17-32 from the field with a field-goal percentage of 53.1. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and 10 dimes. He was +10 on the game and recorded his 42nd triple-double in the 4th quarter with 4:18 left on the clock when he assisted Semaj Christon for a corner 3.
However, the highlight of the night came when Thunder were down by 2 with 2.9 seconds remaining in the regulation period. Westbrook shot a 35-footer with clock winding down to eliminate Nuggets from the playoffs contention and give the Thunder a memorable win. This was awarded the Game-Winner of the Year.
#5 51 vs Phoenix Suns, 28th October, 2016
Stat line: 51 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals on 38.6 % shooting
Russell Westbrook is coming off a strong performance in the season-opener on road against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Thunder hosted Phoenix Suns for their first home game of the season. Russ dropped 51 points in a monster triple-double to beat the Suns, 113-110.
He went for 17-44 from the field and a field-goal percentage of 38.6. The Suns' defenders could not guard Russ as he drew a lot of fouls and went for 15-20 from the free-throw line. Westbrook also had 13 rebounds to go along with 10 assists. He was +7 on the night and was well supported by Victor Oladipo who had 21 of his own.
For Suns, T.J. Warren scored 30 points on a very efficient 13-18 shooting with a mind-boggling field-goal percentage of 72.2.
#4 51 at Houston Rockets, 19th April, 2017
Stat line: 51 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, 4 steals and a block on 39.5 % shooting
During the 2017 NBA Playoffs, the Thunder were pitted against Rockets in their First Round. After losing Game 1 on road, Thunder were looking to steal Game 2 before they go back to OKC for Game 3 and 4. Westbrook took over and scored 51 points in this game but Rockets overpowered Russ to win the game, 115-111.
Russ was very rusty in this game and took ridiculous 43 shots and made only 17 with a forgettable field-goal percentage of 39.5. This came on the back of a terrible shooting from behind the arc, going for 2-11 with a pathetic three-point field-goal percentage of 18.2. However, Westbrook drew a lot of fouls and visited the free-throw line 18 times converting 15 of those. Though he was inefficient in scoring, he contributed in other ways grabbing 10 boards and 13 dimes for a triple-double. He also had 4 steals and a block. This was Westbrook's first 50-point game in the playoffs.
James Harden for Rockets scored 35 points and was very well supported by the sixth man of the year Eric Gordon who scored 22 and was +15 on the game. The Thunder did not have enough fire-power besides Russ and Rockets went up 2-0 in the series.
#3 54 at Indiana Pacers, 12th April, 2015
Stat line: 54 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and a steal on 48.8 % shooting
The Thunder (43-36) visited Indiana for a regular-season game against the Pacers (36-43). Westbrook erupted for 54 points on the night including a dunk to entertain the crowd but the Pacers walked away with the win.
Russ went for 21-43 from the field and a field-goal percentage of 48.8. He only made 5 shots from behind the arc after attempting 15 with a 3-point field-goal percentage of 33.3. He was -4 on the game and looked a bit rusty but that did not stop him from scoring as he went for 7-11 from the free-throw line.
For Pacers, the Hill-Miles duo combined for 49 points on a 15-24 shooting. Hill was +14 and Miles was +23 on the game and the duo committed only one turnover. The supporting cast too played their roles for Indiana with Roy Hibbert scoring 17 and David West scoring 13. The Thunder lost this game, 104-116.
#2 57 at Orlando Magic, 29th March, 2017
Stat line: 57 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals on 52.5 % shooting
The Thunder were on a 3-game road trip, and just beat Mavericks off Westbrook's game-winner. Orlando hosted Thunder, two nights later and Russ went for a thunderous performance, scoring 57 points to go along with a triple-double to down the Magic, 114-106.
Westbrook went for 21-40 from the field and a field-goal percentage of 52.5. He also grabbed 13 boards and 11 assists. He was +8 on the game and entertained the crowd with a thunderous dunk in the third quarter.
Enes Kanter came off the bench and recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Evan Fouriers was the top-scorer for Orlando with 24 points on a 9-22 shooting night.
#1 58 vs Portland Trail Blazers, 7th March, 2017
Stat line: 58 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and a block on 53.8 % shooting
The Oklahoma City Thunder were on a three-game losing streak, dropped all three on road including two tough losses against a very subpar Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks. The Thunder came back to the Chesapeake Arena for a game against Portland Trail Blazers.
Westbrook exploded for 58 points in this one and went for 21-39 from the field, with a field-goal percentage of 53.8. He went to the free-throw line 16 times and converted 13 of those attempts. He was +7 on the game and had game-high 9 assists but the Thunder once again couldn't get the win when Russ scored career-high.
The Thunder entered half-time with a six-point lead but Portland came back stronger in the second half and gained a seven-point lead at the end of third quarter. In the end, Portland held on to win the game, 126-121.
Though this was not his best-game in terms of efficiency as evident even from his three-point shooting percentage of 33.3, going for 3-9 along with 4 turnovers, he had his moments including some breath-taking coast-to-coast layups.
