At the start of the 1990s, the Denver Nuggets remained a run-and-gun team, even though Coach Doug Moe was not leading the team; Paul Westhead had taken the helm.

On November 2nd, 1990, the Nuggets were part of the NBA regulation game with the most points combined by two teams (320). The Chris Mullin-led Warriors defeated the Nuggets 162-158 in the first game of the NBA regular season for both teams.

Mullin scored 39 points to lead Golden State's win. His "Run-TMC" teammates – Tim Hardaway (32) and Mitch Richmond (29) – also lit up the offensive end.

For the Nuggets, Orlando Woolridge and Walter Davis were the leading scorers with 37 and 33 points, respectively.

Again at Denver and with the Nuggets' fast-paced offense under Coach Doug Moe, January 11th, 1984 was a historic day. The Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs combined to score 318 points in a regulation game.

The Nuggets won 163-155, and both teams combined to score an NBA record 99 points in the fourth quarter (53-46 in San Antonio's favor). That's an astounding 8.25 points per minute. Fourteen players scored in double digits, but surprisingly the two teams shot only seven 3-pointers combined.

No. 4 (tie) - Phoenix Suns vs. New Jersey Nets, December 7th, 2006 - 318 points

On a more recent occasion, the Phoenix Suns and New Jersey Nets combined for 318 points, too. On December 7th, 2006, the Suns beat the Nets 161-157 in a double-OT game.

In this game in East Rutherford, NJ, 13 players scored at least 10 points, and seven scored at least 20. The then-reigning, two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash led all scorers with 42 points for Phoenix. Nets' point guard Jason Kidd, not surprisingly, had a triple-double with 38 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists.
