#3 Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks were stronger than anyone expected them to be.

This was an unlucky postseason for the Dallas Mavericks, yet fans should be enthused by what they saw from the team.

In their first-ever NBA Playoff series, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis looked like they belonged with the best in the NBA in the games they played.

With the Mavericks being considered as the dark horse in the competition, they were expected to lose easily against the LA Clippers. However, the injury-depleted team took the Clippers to six games.

Considering how the team managed to defy most expectations, the franchise could even scale new heights next season if they have a fit roster at their disposal.

#2 Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets were full of surprises in the 2019-20 NBA Playoffs.

First, it was Nikola Jokic with his ability to change and adapt with every game, then came Jamal Murray's emphatic leap and offensive explosions. And finally, Michael Porter Jr's proclamation in an interview before hitting some of the clutchiest shots in the postseason.

Many expected the Denver Nuggets to get bumped out in the second round, but they made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals where they played five close games against the LA Lakers.

To say that this is a sign of things to come for the franchise would be an understatement. If the Nuggets continue to develop at this rate, they could soon become a team to be feared and respected by all in the near future.

#1 Miami Heat

Miami Heat have been the biggest surprise of the 2020 NBA Playoffs.
Miami Heat have been the biggest surprise of the 2020 NBA Playoffs.

At the start of the 2019-20 NBA season, not many expected the Miami Heat to make it to the Playoffs.

In the Playoffs, not many expected the Heat to make it to the Finals. Not many gave them much of a chance to win the 2020 NBA Championship against a star-studded Lakers side, yet the Heat have managed to keep the series alive going into Game 6.

The franchise is no stranger to being an underdog but has been wildly impressive in knocking out supposedly stronger teams.

In the ongoing 2020 NBA Finals, the team has put up some impressive numbers against the LA Lakers and has managed to 'steal' two games. While the Lakers are still favored to win it all, the Heat could yet surprise everyone and complete one of the biggest upsets in competition history.
