LeBron James and Kevin Durant haven't played against each other in more than four years. Basketball fans had hoped that the two would have another duel after Durant's trade to the Phoenix Suns, but this most likely won't happen.

The LA Lakers will host the Suns on Wednesday, March 22. This will be their third game of a five-game homestand, but the Lakers will most likely be without James, who is out with a foot injury.

The two superstars last played against each other in the 2018-19 season. Their duels have always been fun to watch, but basketball fans will have to wait longer to see it again.

Durant's trade to the Suns opened up the possibility of another matchup between the two forwards. Unfortunately, James suffered a foot injury in the matchup against the Dallas Mavericks and will most likely be out for an extended time.

The four-time NBA champion will be out for multiple weeks and may not return before April. Considering that the Lakers haven't secured a playoff spot yet, they will have a tough time winning games without their best player.

One Reddit user said that even the NBA's script writers have given up on the matchup between the two legendary forwards.

Another user pointed out that Durant hasn't played in the All-Star Game since 2019 as well.

Considering how long we haven't seen the matchup, the NBA might make a few schedule changes at the start of the 2023-24 season.

Twitter users also reacted to the news of LeBron James' injury. Some of them believe that we will never get to see another matchup between the Lakers star and Kevin Durant.

One of the most exciting things about Durant's trade to the Suns was the potential matchup against James.

However, this matchup won't happen unless James heals quickly and becomes available in less than three weeks.

It's important to note that the Lakers will have another game against the Suns. This will be their second-to-last game of the season and will be played on Apr. 7. Even if LeBron James returns by then, he may not play if the Lakers get eliminated from playoff contention.

The last game between LeBron and Durant

The last matchup between LeBron James and Kevin Durant took place on Christmas Day in 2018. This was during James' first season with the LA Lakers, yet during Durant's final season with the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers, who were 19-14 before the game, obliterated the Dubs, winning the game 127-101.
