Charles Barkley mercilessly mocks Houston Rockets-LA Lakers MLK Day game: “That’s like two ugly girls fighting, nobody care who wins”

Charles Barkley brutally roasted the Houston Rockets-LA Lakers MLK Day game, likening it to a fight between "two ugly girls."

Both teams are reeling near the bottom of the Western Conference standings. The Rockets are dead last, with an NBA-worst 10-33 record. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 13th with a 19-24 record.

The Rockets were expected to be where they are, but the Lakers have disappointed again. Barkley hasn't held the Purple and Gold in high regard since last season, and nothing seems to have changed.

The Hall of Famer cracked up the "Inside the NBA" crew with a hilarious anecdote about the game, saying (via Talkin' NBA) :

"If you're really bored and you got nothing else to do, watch that game. That's like two ugly girls fighting. Nobody care who wins!"

Charles Barkley hasn't been impressed by the LA Lakers. He believes the Lakers shouldn't deserve to have games on marquee dates due to their poor performances on the court on a nightly basis. The 17-time NBA champions have hit one low after the other since breaking up their 2020 championship-winning core by trading for Westbrook.

They haven't touched the .500 mark since January 25th, 2022. The Lakers are currently four games under the .500 mark. With how things have gone this season, they may have to play out another year with a losing record.

Charles Barkley hilariously claimed LA Lakers getting national TV coverage is a "conspiracy"

The LA Lakers will have to turn their season around like the Brooklyn Nets did this season or the Boston Celtics last season to receive Charles Barkley's validation. They have put together decent performances at various junctures. However, dropping two of 10 at the start of the year has pinned them to the bottom of the Western Conference.

The Lakers are 13th as of January 16, three games behind the sixth seed and two games away from making the play-in tournament. Barkley believes their ranking doesn't warrant the coverage they get on national TV or in the media. In one of the previous segments of "Inside the NBA", Barkley mocked the Lakers, saying:

"It's a conspiracy. Then we got all these clowns on television that have to talk about them every day."

However, the LA Lakers remain an attraction due to the presence of LeBron James. Russell Westbrook is another popular name among NBA circles. The Lakers have performed below par, but their big-market tag, star-depth and fan following reward them with games on marquee dates of the season.

Whether Charles Barkley approves of it or not, the Lakers will continue to attract viewers until they drastically make a U-turn on their decision to contend for a championship and enter a rebuild.
