Fans troll Jamal Murray for his sappy comment on Nikola Jokic - “I love that the best center in the league is dating his teammate”

With young Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray back on the court this season, his bromance with Nikola Jokic has picked up right where it left off. As the Nuggets sit tied for second place in the Western Conference, the team is enjoying a day off as the league observes voting day in the United States.

During a recent media scrum, the one-two punch of Murray and Jokic was compared to peanut butter and jelly. That, of course, prompted a laugh from Murray, who questioned which man was peanut butter and which one was jelly. As he turned to Jokic, he explained that the reigning MVP had to be the peanut butter because of how thick he is.

The quote, and the clip, immediately caught the attention of NBA fans, with many jumping on Murray for the hilarious back and forth.

Below is the clip, as well as some of the funniest reactions to the situation courtesy of Twitter users.

So far this season, Jamal Murray is playing himself back into peak form. Last week, the Canadian star scored a season-high 24 points, with 14 coming in the fourth quarter. It was a great sign for a player who missed the entirety of last season after going down in 2021 with a torn ACL.

After Murray tore his ACL, the Nuggets' hopes for an NBA title were immediately put in jeopardy. Although Jokic was able to secure his second straight MVP award, the team lacked depth without Murray's offensive abilities.

Although he hasn't looked like the dominant player he was before the injury, Murray's presence on the floor has helped the Nuggets tremendously.

This season has been a return to form for the Nuggets. With Murray back, the team is in the midst of a three-game win streak ahead of their upcoming game against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. In addition, the Nuggets (7-3) have won three out of their last five games, with the sole loss coming at the hands of the LA Lakers at the end of October.

The win for the Lakers remains one of only two that the team has picked up this year. So far, the season series between the Nuggets and the Lakers has been split at one win each. Several days prior to the team's loss to the Lakers they picked up an impressive 110-99 win over the LA franchise.

As Murray continues to get back into prime form, the team will without a doubt look to put the Western Conference on notice. Before his injury two seasons ago, the team had put on an impressive playoff run inside the bubble in 2020.

His breakout performances in recent years indicate Murray and Jokic could be the league's best duo.

If he's able to return to form, do you think the Nuggets will be able to win the Western Conference? Give us your predictions below.
