The long, long wait for the Golden State Warriors is over. Led by yet another fine performance from MVP Stephen Curry, they clinched the 2015 NBA Title with a 105-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6 to clinch the 7-game series 4-2.

Curry, along with Andre Iguodala scored 25 points in the night as the Warriors, netted in a series of three-pointers in the final quarter to win their first League title after a huge gap of 40 years.

The Cavaliers fought hard with their starman LeBron James, scoring 32 points and also accounted for 18 rebounds and 9 assists on the night, but with a depleted squad at his disposal, even the ‘King’ was left with a lot to do and eventually couldn't help save a ship, that threatened to reach the full distance, from sinking , unfortunately in the end.

There was no end to the happiness on Curry’s face after the win as he proudly called himself a world champion and referred to the rest of his teammates as a “special group’ of people.

"World champs. This is truly special. This group is a special group. From the time we started the season this is what we envisioned and a lot of hard work goes into it, all the way down to the last minute of this game. This is what it's all about. ... We're going to remember this for a long time,” he said.

Everyone in this squad were out there only to win: Kerr

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who in his playing days won 5 Championships, 3 of which came with the Chicago Bulls, credited the entire squad for their efforts and also praised the team’s desire to win.

"The sacrifice every guy made from Andre and David (Lee) stepping away from the starting lineup, we just played. And they were all in it just to win. That's all that mattered. This is an amazing group of guys,” he said.

With this win, Kerr also now becomes the seventh coach to win an NBA title with a team, in his first year, in charge.

Iguodala said that they knew if they kept churning in, they would win most games.

“We knew if we keep grinding and grinding it out, we're going to win games. That's what we did all year,” he said.

As much as Stephen Curry has been instrumental in the Warriors’s win, it is critical for us to not forget the contribution, made by the likes of Andre Iguodala, who was chosen the Most Valuable Player(MVP) of the NBA Finals and the others, who have played an equally important and amidst the celebration for the Warriors, let's just spare a thought for LeBron James, a sensational player, some would argue the greatest the game has seen and a worthy opponent, who, realising that it was all but over for his side, shook hands with Kerr and the rest of the Warriors as he left, seconds before the game finished.
