How is Dwight Howard's net worth impacted by his previous NBA contracts?

Los Angeles Lakers v Golden State Warriors
Future NBA Hall of Famer Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard was unable to secure a contract for the 2022-2023 NBA season, leading him to take his talent overseas, as he is now dominating the Taiwanese League. If this marks the end for the three-time Defensive of the Player, his NBA career will land him in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Throughout his career, Howard has averaged 15.7 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game, 1.3 assists per game, 0.9 steals per game, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 48.7% from the field.

Additionally, Howard made plenty of money over his illustrious career. The eight-time All-Star has accumulated a net worth of $140 million, largely thanks to his NBA career. Over his eighteen-year career, Howard earned nearly $248 million from NBA contracts alone.

Dwight Howard has also received plenty of endorsement money throughout his career, as he was endorsed by brands such as Adidas, McDonald's, and, most recently, the Chinese shoe brand Peak. He has reportedly earned over $100 million in endorsements throughout his career.

Dwight Howard recently defended himself against Shaquille O'Neal

It is no secret that Shaquille O'Neal has not been a fan of Dwight Howard throughout his NBA career. The 1999-2000 NBA MVP recently targeted Howard once again amidst the latter's dominance in the Taiwanese League. O'Neal claimed that Howard is simply doing what he is supposed to do while comparing the league to the Lifetime Fitness League.

Watch Shaquille O'Neal's comments below:

Howard, who has rarely fired back at O'Neal over the years, called out the NBA Hall of Famer, stating:

"Do not disrespect my teammates and this league and these people in Taiwan like that. That is highly disrespectful and it's hating. You're too old to be hating. You're too big to be hating."

Howard also stood up for his former LA Lakers teammate, JaVale McGee, who has also been a constant target of O'Neal over the years, adding:

"You hated on JaVale McGee and almost cost him his whole career. For what? What are you hating JaVale McGee for? This man came way after you. He probably grew up wishing he could be like you."

O'Neal recently shared that he received a scolding from his mother for his comments and offered an apology to Howard, stating:

"I got scolded by my mom yesterday for messing with Dwight, so Mr. Dwight Howard, I owe you an apology, and I will never hurt your feelings again... Dwight, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings."

It is unclear if O'Neal will keep his word and stop targeting Howard after nearly two decades of doing so.
