Jayson Tatum continues to receive his flowers from legends like Michael Jordan. Tatum revealed that the six-time NBA champion often texts him after big games to congratulate him on his performances. However, there was one instance when MJ didn't reach out to the Boston Celtics superstar.

According to Tatum, Jordan did not text him after he dropped 51 points against the Jordan-owned Charlotte Hornets on Jan. 16.

Here's what Tatum told Complex Sports:

"He’ll text me every once in a while when I have a big game, but he didn’t text me after that one."

When asked if Michael Jordan intentionally didn't message him after his dominant effort against the Hornets, Jayson Tatum said:

"Maybe so. I know he watches all the Hornets games, so he saw. Even when does reach out and text me after a good game, that’s still pretty surreal. Even when I see his name come across my phone, it still doesn’t seem real."

Tatum is among the biggest names currently associated with the "Jordan Brand," MJ's line of shoes. The former Chicago Bulls superstar also has other top names like Luka Doncic, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and Bradley Beal signed to Jordan Brand.

Jayson Tatum's next game against Michael Jordan's Hornets will be interesting

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics will host Michael Jordan's Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 10. The Celtics have already won the season series, beating the Hornets thrice. Nevertheless, Tatum and company will be keen to sweep the Hornets.

The next conversation between the Celtics forward and Jordan will certainly be interesting. MJ despises losses more than anything else because of his competitive nature.

Considering how well the Celtics played against Charlotte in their three previous games, it wouldn't be surprising to see them complete a season sweep.

Boston is vying for a record 18th NBA championship and boasts a league-best 37-15 record. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets are likely out of playoff contention with a 15-37 record this season.
