LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets returned to the court today to face the Miami Heat for the second time this season. After losing the first duel 114-106, the Hornets hosted the Floridian team hoping to get revenge.
The first half of the game didn't go as expected for the Hornets, who only scored 13 points after dropping 26 in the first quarter, the same as the Heat. In contrast, Miami added 24 units to enter halftime with a 50-39 advantage.
LaMelo Ball didn't have the best performance to start the game, shooting 4-of-11 from the field and 3-of-8 from deep, racking up 11 points, six rebounds and two assists in the first part of the game. In addition, he committed four turnovers. Coming off 35, 50 and 44-point performances, Ball didn't shoot to his standard from those games.

The second half of the game started in a similar fashion, with the Heat dominating the Hornets, taking the third quarter 25-19. The Hornets would respond with a 36-point fourth quarter, including a 22-9 seven minutes into this period, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Heat, losing the match 98-94.

LaMelo Ball is looking like the star the Hornets always wanted
The 2024-25 NBA season is off to a remarkable start for LaMelo Ball, who is one of the best scorers in the competition (31.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game while shooting 44.0% from the field). He's confirming that he can lead this squad to fight for important things in the NBA, but the rest of the team still needs time to be ready to compete.
Ball is playing aggressive basketball, attacking the rim, shooting from beyond the arc and becoming a playmaker whenever his team needs him. The record doesn't show that the Hornets are cooking something good but once their young pieces, especially Brandon Miller, develop, this squad will be dangerous.
They have competed with several top teams this campaign, showing glimpses of what they can be in the future. If the front office adds the right pieces, LaMelo Ball could lead a championship-caliber team soon.
