#2 Lakers sign Carmelo Anthony

The Los Angeles Lakers will need to release someone before signing Carmelo Anthony, although the Brooklyn Nets' apparent interest in the 10-time All-Star could force the Lakers to make their move sooner rather than later.

Melo almost headed to Los Angeles in February, although talks were 'paused' after the Lakers fell out of playoff contention. However, with Frank Vogel's team now sure to be among the contenders after adding Anthony Davis earlier this summer, Melo would be a welcome addition to a bench that is short on proven scorers.

If the Lakers register their interest, personal terms are unlikely to be a problem as Anthony has accepted that he must play from the bench to enhance his career. Ultimately, the 35-year-old is believed to be keen to play alongside his close friend in LeBron James, and the future Hall of Famer could soon get his chance.
