Pau Gasol is widely regarded as the most accomplished basketball player from Spain. After setting the stage on fire in his home country, Gasol was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the third overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft.

The Hawks traded his draft rights to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. In his rookie season with the Grizzlies, Gasol dominated the league and averaged 17.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists, 2.1 blocks per game. To no one's surprise, he was handed the Rookie of the Year award.

The 6-time All-Star's most successful tenure came when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers. Along with Kobe Bryant, Gasol led the Lakers to two championships (2009, 2010). Gasol is currently in his third season with the San Antonio Spurs and is coming off the bench, providing very efficient minutes.
