2019 NBA All-Star Game

The meaning and role of the position of power forward has completely transformed over the past decade. Before, Power Forwards were known for being big men who were slightly shorter or weaker than Centers.

Nowadays, teams have two small forwards and then select the bigger or more versatile player to start at PF. However, there still remain a few players at PF who have kept the 2010-15 skills and adapted to the new attributes required to play at the position over the last four years. As a result, these are the players who you'll be seeing in this top 10 list.

Honorable mentions

Marcus Morris (NYK)

Julius Randle (NYK)

Kevin Love (CLE)

Kyle Kuzma (LAL)

#10 Aaron Gordon

Aaron Gordon
Aaron Gordon

During his time in the league, Gordon has slowly developed into a slightly worse version of Blake Griffin. This is because in terms of his athleticism, size, versatility and all-around offensive skills, Gordon has many similarities to Griffin. He averaged 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game last season.

However, in order to help the Magic grow further, he must become more consistent as he has often gone missing in important games. In fact, he is no longer the best player on the team as Vucevic was Orlando's lone All-Star last season.

#9 Paul Millsap

Whilst Paul Millsap may be aging, his skill level and experience is very valuable to the Nuggets, therefore the team exercised his $30 million team option. His defensive ability and all-around offensive contributions mean that along with superstar Center Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets have one of the best big-men combinations in the NBA.

Millsap will play a crucial role in determining whether the Denver Nuggets will be able to contend against the likes of the LA Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets next season.

#8 Pascal Siakam

Pascal Siakam
Pascal Siakam

Coming off an incredible season where he won the Most Improved Player award as the second best player on the championship-winning Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam will now be the main guy for Toronto's basketball franchise as a consequence of Leonard's departure to the LA Clippers.

If he continues to make strides with his shooting and passing, the Cameroonian forward has a great chance to be an All-Star for many years to come.

#7 Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis
Kristaps Porzingis

Despite having missed NBA action since October last year, the Latvian big man is expected to make a full recovery and join reigning Rookie of the Year, Luka Doncic, in what could be a formidable duo for many years to come at the Dallas Mavericks. Porzingis was averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game before he got injured.

Porzingis is an extremely skilled scorer as he has the shooting ability of a guard to go with his dominance in the post.

Also, in defence, he is a fantastic shot-blocker and rebounder. He's only 23 so he has many years to make strides towards being an MVP-caliber player.

#6 Al Horford

Whilst his stats might not be so exciting, Horford is one of the most important players a team can have purely because of his significant all-around contributions and leadership. On defense, there are few who can protect the paint like the Dominican big man.

By being offered a much more lucrative contract by the Celtics' division rivals, Horford is now a part of the Philadelphia 76ers who are tipped as contenders to win the East this upcoming season.

#5 LaMarcus Aldridge

Despite turning 34, LaMarcus Aldridge remains one of the best big men scorers out there and is keeping the Spurs going as a Playoff team.

They took the second seed Denver Nuggets to seven games a couple of months ago which is very impressive, given the fact that many saw Denver as heavy favourites.

With the development of San Antonio's young guards, Aldridge, DeRozan and Gay can lead the team to the Playoffs once again next season.

#4 Draymond Green

Draymond Green
Draymond Green

Draymond Green has been the leader of the Warriors who have made the NBA finals for the last five years and won three championships. There is no player who competes harder in every aspect of the game like Green and this sets him apart from others.

He is a fantastic defender, rebounder, passer and can attack the rim to become a scorer many times. But with KD and Iguodala leaving along with Thompson's injury, it looks like it's finally too much to ask from Green and Curry to lead the Warriors to another NBA Finals.

#3 Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin

Despite having lost a bit of his athletic ability as he has aged and gone through a few injuries, Griffin has become a much better player because his shooting, scoring, passing and rebounding skills remain right up there with the best.

He single-handedly carried the Pistons to a Playoff place last year with averages of 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists per game. So with more help in Detroit, Griffin can achieve much more success in the Eastern Conference.

#2 Anthony Davis

Finally a part of the Lakers and teammate to LeBron James, Anthony Davis can resume his dominance as the best big man in the league. At his best, AD is an MVP-caliber player who no one can match on either end of the floor. He's capable of averaging 28 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.

He is one of the best scorers, rebounders and rim protecters in the league. The most important thing for him and the Lakers is staying healthy by managing his minutes.

#1 Giannis Antetokounmpo

Having won the MVP award by leading his team on both ends of the floor to 60 regular season wins and the Eastern Conference Finals, the next step for "The Greek Freak" is winning a championship. His averages of 28 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.5 blocks per game last season are simply outstanding.

Giannis is truly destined to be an NBA legend because he is so dominant in many areas of the game. He can bully his way inside for a layup/dunk, score from the mid-range area, make plays for his teammates, rebound like the best Center in the league and block shots all day long.
