Darius Miller suffered an injury while practicing earlier this week, and the New Orleans Pelicans have confirmed that the small forward has ruptured his right Achilles tendon:

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that forward Darius Miller underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. A timeline for Miller’s return to basketball activities will be made available at a later date.

While the Pelicans didn't specify how long Miller will be out for, ESPN is reporting that the 29-year-old is likely to miss between 7 and 8 months.

Miller played 69 times for the Pelicans last season, averaging 8.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Miller was expected to compete for a starting spot with E’Twaun Moore and Brandon Ingram, and the Pelicans may now seek a replacement.
