What's the rumor?

Andre Iguodala was sent to the Memphis Grizzlies this summer as the Golden State Warriors cleared the cap-space needed to sign D'Angelo Russell. However, with the Grizzlies currently undergoing a long-term rebuild, Iguodala reached an agreement with Memphis to stay away from the team as they worked on a trade.

It was reported earlier this week that the Dallas Mavericks were preparing to make an offer for the 35-year-old, although David Cobb of the Memphis Commercial Appeal believes the Portland Trail Blazers could also get in the mix:

Portland addressed an offensive need in acquiring Anthony. It could address a defensive need with Iguodala. Portland could use the $19.3 million expiring contract of Kent Bazemore to initiate a trade for Iguodala, and the Trail Blazers have a full stock of future first-round picks to include in a deal.

In case you didn't know...

Iguodala was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, and after spending eight years with the Sixers, Iguodala has also represented the Denver Nuggets and Warriors. While his spell in Denver lasted just a season, Iguodala reached the NBA Finals on five occasions during his six seasons with the Warriors - and the 35-year-old was also named 2015 Finals MVP as Golden State overcame the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The heart of the matter

At 35, Iguodala still has plenty to offer to a contending team, and the Trail Blazers would boast a formidable lineup if they can add the veteran in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Portland will be willing to give up a first-round pick for such a short term pick as Iguodala is reportedly set to return to the Warriors next season.

What's next?

Following Friday's win over the Chicago Bulls, the Trail Blazers will be looking to pick up a fourth consecutive win when they take on the LA Clippers on Tuesday night.
