Dennis Smith Jr. has no future in Dallas with the Mavericks
Dennis Smith Jr. has been linked with a trade away from the Dallas Mavericks this month, and Sporting News is reporting that while the point guard may not be traded this season, Smith Jr. has no long term future with the franchise:
•
Smith has been sitting out for the last four games, with what’s being called a back issue, but he is clearly healthy... A source told SN (Sporting News) that a trade of Smith is a matter of when not if. Could be in the three weeks left before the trade deadline. Could be this summer. But it’ll have to come after the Mavs have dealt with some of the challenges of trading Smith now.
Smith Jr. was selected by the Mavericks with the ninth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft and the 21-year-old is this season averaging 12.6 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds.
