What's the rumour?

The Toronto Raptors are being linked with a number of NBA stars ahead of the trade deadline, and Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal is reportedly one of the players that the team has an interest in. According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News, the franchise would like to acquire Beal, although the Raptors will have to pay a steep price to get a deal done:

There’s been chatter about the Raptors pursuing Wizards guard Bradley Beal, but Washington wants two players and two draft picks for him, according to sources.
That would cost the team budding star Pascal Siakam and wing OG Anunoby, plus some filler salary and two future first-round draft picks. The Raptors already owe this year’s pick to the Spurs, and they would have to persuade Washington to take a pick as far out as 2023.

In case you didn't know...

Bradley Beal has been with the Washingon Wizards for the entirety of his career. He was drafted by the team as the third overall pick back in 2012, and last season Beal averaged 22.6 points, 4.5 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. Beal's form resulted in a first All-Star appearance, and the 25-year-old has once again been the Wizards best performer this season.

The heart of the matter

Beal is entering the prime years of his career, and the Wizards look as though they will struggle to contend in the upcoming seasons. A move to the Raptors would be beneficial for Beal, although it remains to be seen if the team will be giving up so much in return for one player.

What's next?

The Washington Wizards will tomorrow play the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Toronto Raptors will take on the Atlanta Hawks.
