Ja Morant shocked the NBA world when he announced that he was not going to try and dunk to preserve his body and avoid injuries. However, Morant broke his word on Saturday against the Boston Celtics with a ridiculous slam. Fans reacted to the play on social media and didn't hold back.

At around the seven-minute mark in the third quarter, Morant received a pass from Desmond Bane in the corner. He was being guarded by Derrick White, who got beat by Morant's quick first step. He then drove to the basket to attack the Celtics defense.

Kristaps Porzingis was waiting to block his shot, so Morant did what only he could do. He twisted his body and hit a reverse slam dunk as the TD Garden crowd was shocked by what happened. He had to double pump but still had the time to maintain his balance and finish.

NBA fans couldn't believe what they saw since Ja Morant made a promise to limit his dunks. Morant remained aggressive and slashed the ring. He did limit his jams, but it's in his nature to just do absurd things on the air.

"Ja is an actual psychopath," a fan wrote.
"He's still going to dunk. He's likely just going to be smarter with how he uses his athleticism," one fan opined.

"The league literally needs him to dunk," another fan claimed.

Ja Morant played just nine games last season after serving a 25-game suspension due to showing off a gun on social media. Morant then suffered a shoulder injury and missed the rest of the season. He was fully healthy entering the campaign before a hip injury forced him to miss eight games in November.

"Had a feeling he was lying about not wanting to dunk," a fan tweeted.

"That's really who he is. He can't run from his nature," one fan claimed.
"I mean tbh that was kinda necessary there, a lot of his dunks he don't need to actually slam it," another fan commented.

Morant is one of the best high flyers in the NBA today though his style of play might take a toll on his body.

Entering Saturday's game, the Memphis Grizzlies have not won at the TD Garden since Nov. 4, 2013. Ja Morant changed all of that after dropping a near triple-double of 32 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in the Grizzlies' 127-121 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Morant took over the game in the third quarter by keeping the defending champions at bay. Jaren Jackson Jr. took over in the fourth quarter to help Memphis improve to 16-8 for the season.
