Their average performances continued for the entirety of last year. However, they turned around their season since the start of 2025. On Saturday, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle attended a press conference where he named his team's loss to Victory Wembanyama and the Spurs in Paris as their turning point.

"It was the middle, latter stages of January, which was our turnaround month," Carlisle said (Time stamp: 4:47). "We lost the first game in Paris, and we’re playing against Victor (Wembanyama) and we’ve got all the Paris fans there. There’s a lot coming at us."

The Pacers faced the Spurs for two consecutive games in Paris in January. The first game was played on Jan. 23, and they suffered a 140-110 blowout in that game. Wemby scored 30 points in that game to lead his team to victory.

However, after that humiliating loss, the Pacers came back to take the next game in Paris. They walked away with a 136-98 win and eventually made it to the NBA Finals four months later.
