Golden State Warriors youngsters Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman have been rather underwhelming to start the 2022-23 season. With the two appearing out of sorts with the team, Warriors GM Bob Myers hinted towards the possibility of assigning both to the G League.

The Warriors haven't had the most successful start to their title defense campaign. After a harsh road trip that saw them give up a handful of losses, the Dubs managed to steal back some momentum with their most recent win against the Sacramento Kings.

While the team managed to add another dub in the win column, they are far from being in a favorable position. Ranked 12th in the West, the Warriors have a lot of ground to cover if they hope to return to a competitive spot again.

While their poor performances during the road trip were heavily criticized, the media also took note of the poor performances by the Warriors youngsters. A specific emphasis was placed on Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman in this regard as concerns regarding their ability to contribute rose.

While players such as Jordan Poole and Moses Moody have carved out a place for themselves on the roster, Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman have struggled to do so.

In this regard, Warriors GM Bob Myers also hinted at potential G League assignments to facilitate their development.

He discussed the matter on 95.7 The Game's "Steiny & Guru". He said:

"I think it's always an option, I know that in some people's minds it's a huge thing to do, I guess I don't view it the same. If they go down there and do a couple games and come back, or more, it's becoming more commonplace.
"They just need to play, both of them need to play. If they're not getting the appropriate minutes with the NBA, that discussion will come up. If it makes sense, we'll talk to Jama [Mahlalela], we'll talk to Steve [Kerr], we'll talk to the coaching staff and Kenny [Atkinson] and find out of they think that's the best course, they're the ones working with these guys every day."

Given that it's early in the season, the Warriors youngsters will have ample opportunity to develop and adapt in time. However, given the amount of workload placed on Steph Curry at the moment, the Dubs may have other concerns to address first.

The Golden State Warriors have managed to secure a number of talented young players through the draft in the last few years.

With the likes of Jordan Poole emerging as a star, the Dubs have a number of players with the potential to have a breakout season soon. This, in itself, could go a long way in dictating future success.

In this regard, players such as Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman are vital to the Dubs' future schemes. Although both players haven't been successful early on, Golden State are clear on their outlook regarding the two.

As things stand, James Wiseman and Kuminga both need more experience playing with the team.

The expectations placed upon them go a long way. With head coach Steve Kerr also placing his faith in Kuminga and Wiseman, the two could benefit from playing more minutes.
