Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett opens up on his role in NBA 2K23: "I'm gonna feel like a whole new 9-year-old kid right now"

Kevin Garnett is one of the most talented forwards in the history of the NBA. The 6-foot-11 big man spent 21 years in the league, earning numerous accolades and winning a championship with the Boston Celtics.

The former NBA champion was recently featured in an NBA 2K TV episode. During the episode, Garnett used 2K Sports' motion capture technology, expressing his excitement to be in NBA 2K23:

"I'm a fan of 2K and it's dope to be able to be on this side of it," Garnett said during his appearance on NBA 2K TV. "I'm gonna feel like a whole new 9-year-old kid again."

Besides being featured in the popular basketball video game as a player, Garnett is also a character in the MyCAREER storyline. He has several interactions with the player in this mode, which is why 2K Sports needed his acting and voicelines.


Kevin Garnett loves being featured in NBA 2K

Garnett is no stranger to NBA 2K. Shortly after winning the championship ring with the Boston Celtics in 2008, the power forward was featured on the cover of NBA 2K9. Considering how incredible he was, this was definitely deserved.

The 'Big Ticket' now has a new role in the popular video game and he's very excited about it. You can watch Garnett's appearance on NBA 2K TV below.

Before his appearance in NBA 2K23's MyCAREER mode, Kevin Garnett had some other acting experience. His most famous role came in "Uncut Gems," a 2019 movie with Adam Sandler. Garnett even wore his Celtics championship ring in the movie.

"Everything is timing," Garnett said when asked how the movie prepared him for his 2K23 role. "Then being comfortable to be able to deliver lines on time."

Garnett also claimed that Adam Sandler, who sometimes plays pickup basketball, would not be able to score any points on him. Despite being retired, the former NBA champion said that he could beat anybody in the 2K studio.


Garnett's impressive NBA career

With 21 years of NBA experience, Garnett had one of the longest professional careers of all time. His journey started in Minnesota as he spent 14 years playing for the Timberwolves.

Unfortunately, for the power forward, he could not win it all with the team that drafted him. However, he helped the Celtics win it all in his first season in Boston.

Besides winning the championship, Garnett was named an All-Star 15 times. He was also the league's MVP in 2004 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2008. The big man was inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020.
