Did Michael Jordan ever grow a beard? Looking at His Airness’ fashion style

NBA legend Michael Jordan sported varying looks with his facial hair throughout his illustrious career, but, interestingly, none of them included growing a full beard.

Not much has been written about why was that the case, and a quick search on the internet is hardly helpful. The closest that "His Airnes" came to growing a beard was a stubble – a closely trimmed beard – that he had every now and during his impressive run with the Chicago Bulls, and a lip-beard.

What was prominent, though, was the mustache that he grew whenever he decided to drop his clean-shaven look.

In fact, in 2010, while Jordan was almost a decade post-retirement, he sported a “Hitler-stache” for a television commercial for innerwear brand Hanes, and as expected, that created a steer.

However, instead of the sales taking a hit, a report by CBS News showed that Hanes’ second-quarter sales for that year grew.

While he was a part of the iconic Dream Team for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Michael Jordan sported a goatee. He helped what many considered the greatest basketball team ever assembled in sweeping its way to the gold medal.

In eight games, Jordan averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 assists, 4.1 steals and 2.4 rebounds as Team USA went all the way.

Jordan’s teammates with the Dream Team were Charles Barkley, Chris Mullin, Christian Laettner, Clyde Drexler, David Robinson, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Patrick Ewing and Scottie Thompson.

The 1992 Olympic gold was the second for Jordan, having also won the top hardware in the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Following his stint with the Dream Team, he would no longer represent the United States in international competitions.
